A Security Guide for Activists I wrote while in Jail
Jail was an extremely trying experience, so I tried to keep myself as busy as possible. I wrote most of the following while in jail.
Please note that some sections are inaccurate and in need of further correction – it’s not like I had access to the internet in there or could ask people to send in the sorts of information I was after. But nonetheless, it is a pretty solid document.
I would heartily appreciate suggestions, corrections and recommendations in order to complete the next revision of this document.

I just converted it to EPUB format with smartphone compatibility. If you want it you can get it here: http://goo.gl/gbP9R
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for this effort.
Side note: please don’t suggest generic ad / flash blockers as a security measure, as they’re not reliable for that purpose:

Also, firewalls are not enough network devices can be hacked through your browser:

I wasn’t suggesting ad/flashblockers as a major piece of security, but rather part of the defence-in-depth approach. But mostly because Flash is the most evil thing to happen to the internet, and it’s a horrible, horrible security hole. Up yours, Adobe!
And you’re very, very right about getting hacked through browsers. So many of todays security issues are a result of browsers, since they allow users to do all kinds of stupid things and can invalidate all your other careful security measures.
Thanks Byron, and great to see your high spirits and contributions post-legal fiasco. Will share this around.
